Our Program

  • We have a vibrant Performing Arts program that will take you from your current level (whether beginner or experienced performer) and offer you individualized instruction in singing, acting, dance, and technical theatre.
  • Students collaborate daily through games, exercises, and full-scale productions that help build self-confidence, allow for self-expression and creativity, and offer the opportunity to develop many transferable life-skills including critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-reflection.
  • We are a close-knit group of "flexible, aware, creative, and encouraging" actors, singers, dancers, and theatre technicians who provide support for each other in and out of theatre class. We are a community!

Theatre offerings for 2025-2026:

  • Theatre 1: Seventh grade students develop their performing skills through collaborative games, scene work, vocal technique, and dance instruction in this year-long class. They participate in "got Broadway?" in the fall and a full-scale production during second semester. They also receive the Health curriculum during this course (Ms. Ross recently obtained her Health credential and is happy to be teaching this content!)
  • Theatre 2:  Eighth grade students engage in more in-depth study of vocal technique, including part-singing, dance, and acting in this year-long class. Students are featured as soloists and ensemble in "got Broadway" in the fall, and they perform a class musical in the spring semester.
  • Stagecraft (August - December): This class meets 7th period (2:53-3:47) Monday through Thursday. Students learn the fundamentals of technical theatre -- including costuming, lighting, sound, set and prop design. They support GV's fall production as crew.
  • Chorus: For the 2024-5 school year, chorus meets after school, on Fridays for the first semester.  Chorus is for 7th and 8th grade GV students with a passion for singing in various styles: popular, classical, world music, jazz, and musical theater. Students learn music theory and notation, practice vocal technique, and develop healthy singing habits. Students perform in school productions as well as in the Santa Barbara / Goleta community.
  • Play Production (January - April): Students audition to be part of the cast or crew for the spring musical. Rehearsals are daily from 3:00-5:30 M-F, with additional hours as show date nears.

All-School Musical

  • Each spring, GV Theatre produces a full-length musical with live orchestra. This year, we are doing "SpongeBob the Musical." Performances are April 17, 18, 19. Use THIS FORM to sign up to get show announcements.
  • Any GV student may audition in January to be part of the musical. Rehearsals are daily M-F from 3:00-5:30 (later as performance date nears). Performances are in April. Applications for backstage and technical crew will be available in February.
